The hardest thing that you will need to decide when you are out buying a television is the resolution that you want – and the size of the TV. These are the two major decisions that need to get made, because they will have a direct impact on how you enjoy your television for the coming years. The first choice that you need to make is the resolution of the TV – and your choices are 720p, 1080p and 4K. We can start off by saying that 720p is something that should not even come into your consideration anymore. It is much too low for you to have a good experience.
Now the choice is between 1080p and 4K. This is where things get interesting. We would say that if you are concerned about budget, then you should still go with full HD instead of 4K. Why? Because we do not believe the upgrade is such a staggering difference as it was when we went from SD to HD TVs. And you should also consider the fact that most media is still in HD, not 4K. So, what is the point of the TV when you do not have enough content to enjoy on it?
The second decision is regarding screen size, and this depends so much on how you will use the TV. Is it something you will keep in your room, for only you or maybe one other person to watch? If that is the case, we think 40 inches should be more than enough. You can have it closer to where you sit or lie down, and you will have a great experience. For a living room, we would go with something that is closer to 50 or 60 inches, as you get that true cinematic experience with such big sizes.
